The treatment of persistent pain syndromes is complex. Persistent pain is a condition where pain is present (often for a protracted period of time) after the natural healing process of soft tissue has occurred. This longevity of pain has wide ranging impacts on the individual from reducing activity – physical and social, to needing to change jobs and affecting normal activities of daily life. Treatment may become highly medicalised with an increasing reliance on medication. At SPAR your physiotherapist will provide you with a comprehensive assessment, including a physical assessment, and discuss your individual treatment plan, including, but not limited to, active rehabilitation, but most importantly education on pain and pain processing.
